Hi for the past 3 weeks I've been having a cold/sore throat on and off, I was attributing that to the recent weather change. Over the past 3 months I have had multiple sexual partners, recently finding out they have had bad reputations, however anytime I had sex with anyone it was ALWAYS protected. I recently had a rapid screening test and it tested negative. Does this mean that the cold/sore throat has nothing to do with HIV, and do condoms prevent HIV because i have never had sex without one, Am i at risk ? There may have been casual touching but never intercouse without one.
Update:There has never been a condom slip break or misuse, after every use I made sure they were intact with no breaks.

HIV does not and cannot pass through a latex/polyurethane barrier (condom). That is ridiculous.
If condoms are used consistently and properly (and put on before any genital to genital contact, not slipped on half-way through) they are EXTREMELY effective.
The 80% number that some are throwing out is being described incorrectly (and it is not in relation to HIV, but to all STIs in total, and much of that number accounts for people using condoms incorrectly.
Proper and consistnet condom use is virtually 100% effective against HIV, chalmydia, gonorrhea (transmission requires body fluid exchange).
But for skin to skin infections like herpes or HPV, those infections can be found in areas not protected by the condom (anywhere in the boxer-short area). Condoms still greatly reduce the likelihood of transmission of herpes and HPV (by more than 50% in studies).
Your cold/sore throat is likely caused by a bening viral infection. But as a sexually active person you should be screened for STIs at least once a year (more depending on risks taken).
They highly reduce your chances of contracting HIV, and are very effective when used properly. However they do not I repeat do not 100% protect you from HIV/AIDS not matter how properly you use them. i condone you for being responsible and using condoms are protection, but just realize they are not 100% effective. I once did an evidence based medically study on HIV nd latex condoms and found out that sometimes the virus can be so small it fits through the holes of the latex at a microscopic level. So just know that the only most effective way to prevent HIV is abstinence. In addressing your sickness, some illness can take awhile to fully go away like bronchitis. Since your having multiple partners I would suggest you continue using the condoms ( if possible stop having mutlitple partners) and continue to get tested routinely, sometimes HIV can take awhile to show up positive on a blood test, so in the event you are positive you want to know as early as possible so you can start treatment and stop having sex so you dont infect others.
Let's just say the only way to be sure you don't get HIV is to not have sex. Even with condoms you are not safe from diseases. When engaging in sex make sure to get regular screenings if you find flu or cold like symptoms. Better safe then sorry. :)
in case you want to stay and luxuriate in existence, you maximum proper promote off this guy and locate a ailment-loose one. no longer something is one hundred% and condoms are made from very skinny tearable membrane. Kissing is an replace of exact fluids also. tell him to be a pal without privileges or to locate someone who's already contaminated.
they work about 80 percent of the time. so about 20 percent of the time they don't work.
