Not all of the poor people I've ever met were lazy, some just made one bad choice after another. But I can honestly say most of the poor people I've met in my lifetime were definitely there of their own doing, and often times it was in fact just plain old fashioned laziness that got them there.
No but a lot of them are..for instance I'm a mom that works 2 jobs and my husband started his own business 3 years ago...we are not poor but def. Are not rich and we work our asses off on the other hand I have a brother who is lazy..probably hasn't worked a full year in 12 years. He and his wife ( by the way doesn't work either, just keep having kids) live off of food stamps, government housing, etc...they watch movies all the time....and hang out with other like them. So yes some poor are lazy and the government is ok with that. You don't get rewarded to be hardworking citizens anymore
Mostly it is the liberals who say cons think like that, Most cons understand that no matter how much you try, there will always be a poor people. BUT where they differ from libs is the cons feel that many who are poor can if improve themselves and their condition. Liberals fail to see this and instead of supporting long term solutions that promote the betterment of the poor, they rely on programs that provide long term incentives for them to remain in the state they are in.
1. Accept that you will always be either poor or poorer working for a deignated wage that is well below the cost of living, or..
2. Accept that in order to remain successful you must continually maintain a position created for yourself well above said standard ever increasing, increasing, increasing, expanding, expanding, expanding, never at rest always moving forward, etc, etc.
This is once again, why there will never be room for a middle class aside from which is created by the unions via (for lack-of-a better-term) thuggery and the occasional position created as a loss to compete with said as such.
Yes, the 500 scientists fired by Astra Zenika last month are clearly an example of lazy Union Thugs, with their handout for entitlements. Here as AtraZenika is just a Global Corporation trying to "get by" on 56 year drug patents in a competitive environment.
My grandmother moved here from Poland in 1970 and my mother graduated from high school in 1989. She was extremely poor starting off in life and when she had me in 1992. She worked long hours to provide for me financially (my father was an abusive deadbeat; the two of them divorced soon after I was born) as well as to put herself through college.
She graduated in 2004 and makes ~$80,000 a year now. Through her hard work, she was able to send me to live at a good college.
Most people start their lives after graduating from high school very poor. But hard work allows you to become financially stable.
Then those telling you the story are idiots, as is your concept. Either that or you just hang around stupid people. Maybe you should find yourself a better class of people to hang out with, like true conservatives.

Once more,
There are 2 options in our society:

No.

Obviously you don't know very many Conservatives
most were once poor themselves, and Conservatives donate more to charity than liberals do
(according to a study in the NY Times anyway)
Yes
There's a difference between the working poor and the non-working poor.
Apparently you're not "hearing" all of the views.
