Yes, you do, the only time your military ID can be used for ID when traveling is if you are on orders. Other than that you will need a passport, Enhanced Drivers license or a NEXUS ID. This took affect on June 1, 2009 when traveling between Canada, US, Mexico and the Caribbean in all travel ways. Before this you still would not have been able to use just your Military ID card but you would have had to had your birth certificate as well
