This is a Ron Paul Interview in 1988 when he ran on the Libertarian ticket for president.
How many politicians can you point out that stay consistent and don't flip-flop on everything?
In this 1988 interview he predicts the future by saying that our next generation of young people will wake up and say "We can't afford this much government any more"
and here we are in 2011...demanding less government

The only politician that has my respect and full support.
No. I do think Ron Paul is sincere. And actually tend toward a libertarian approach.
But his ideas will not work.
Being consistent is great -- if one is also correct. Being consistently wrong is not something to admire.
BTW: the problem is that Ron Paul -- and most of his supporters -- confuse principle nd practice. Example: the "gold standard." The principle underlying that is that the medium of exchange should be secure from manipulation by a government (or anyone else).
That is a principle. A gold backed currency is an application of the principle. HOWEVER, it is an application that will not work in an Industrial/post-industrial economy. There are ways to accomplish the goal that will. Unfortunately, Ron Pal and his followers treat "gold standard" as a principle not to be deviated from.
I used the medium of exchange issue as an example. The same failng rund through the whole agenda Ron Paul offers.
When, and if, they start thinking things through and develop ways to apply the fine principles in a manner that will WORK, they will have something to offer. Right now, they don't..
right that's what he can't do: a million. Shutdown the Federal Reserve. 2. Shutdown the dep. of preparation. 3. Legalize Marijuana. 4. Tax Marijuana. All of those require the consent of Congress. right that's what he can do: a million. close militia bases. The President does have massive ability in distant places coverage and militia operations. Paultards are a comedian tale, laughable at ultimate. The info is Ron Paul may be a lame-duck President who might have all of his vetoes overturned via Congress.
Actually it's one of the biggest things I respect Ron Paul for. I'm pretty liberal as most people know on here, but I voted for Ron Paul for Congress and would do it again.
I really respect him over other politicians because even though I disagree with him on a lot of things I know his views are his own and he's going to stick by them. I also think he brings a really interesting voice to Congress that needs to be heard.
I don't think I could vote for him for President though.
I have tons of respect for him, and I also think he is the most honest person in Congress aside from Kucinich, but I think his economic recommendations are too extreme. Completely gutting the government, especially during a recession, isn't a good idea.
1988?
Try 2008.
Remember that year?
All Paul supporters ought to.
That's when he blew his chances for the Republican nomination.
Which he did by claiming that fake hoaxes were real:

Ron Paul's either senile, nuts or lying. Take your pick.
Whatever his problem is, at least he's consistent about it.
-He claimed that same nonsense in 2006, too - http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul349.html
I support him 100% and it's amazing how you watch a 20+ year old video of him and his predictions are dead on accurate or extremely close. He is a man who knows his economics and the Constitution.
What's an honest man doing in government!?!
Ron Paul FTW!
Although I don't know all that much about the man. My understanding is that he tells the truth not all the political BS. I respect any person who's word I can trust.
I have always respected Ron Paul.
But he is not, and never will be, a viable presidential candidate. I'm not saying this maliciously or to demean him, but it is simply a matter of fact.
