At the same time my impression has always been that the more fanatic or "axis" forces had less of an age limit for their drafts, but again... I'm no historian.
That is my eye-take on the matter just on how many troops they had and how ruthless they were... and still they lost... in "God's due time."
If evil is the motive... they (whoever they are at a given time) are sure to lose.
