If you are able to do 500 crunches a day, you're not doing them properly. Look at the tempo in which you are doing them. On the eccentric portion of the crunch (the movement where you come back down to the floor), take 4 seconds to decend. My guess is that your crunches aren't very productive. In other words, your muscles aren't being taxed to the degree they should be. Try situps while holding a 5 or 10lb weight. Try V-ups- Lie on the floor with your arms to your side. At the same exact time, bring your knees into your chest while you move your chest upwards/forward, thus, creating the letter V. Hold this position for 2 seconds, and descend for 3 counts. In reality, you only need to do about 50 repetitions of different exercises to exhaust your abdominals. I'd give this a try. hope this helps!
