( the backflip that im talking about is where you land on your hands not the one like a sommie) I have a fear of backflips but I realllllly want to learn how to do them. I do gymnastics and all the other girls can do backflips but I'm to scared too. The only way I can do it, is if the strong coaches help me and they aren't there that often. I don't like just flipping over with help because last time I kicked the coach in the face! Lol I was thinking of doing backward walk overs and gradually jumping into them other than that I need to find a different way to learn... PLEASE help!!

Uhh...do you mean a back handspring where one jumps backwards and catches themselves on their hands and lands back on their feet? and if you did do gymnastics you should know what the flip is called...but that's not the point. For a back handspring you need to practice with a spotter and ppl don't normally kick ther spotters...it's just that it's pretty impossible too --physics. Anyway, I'm gonna assume you teach yourself at home. Go outside and use the grass. Stretch and practice your bridge/backbend. So stand with your arms in front of you. Don't swing them. Keep your eyes on your hands. Start falling toward the ground like you're sitting in a chair. When you're about to really fall, jump BACK. Tilt your head back and lead with your head and arms. Keep watching your hands and plant your hands on the ground. Keep your elbows lock and legs together. Use your abs and the momentum from jumping backwards to complete the back hand spring.
