The Queen is not on all our money, she is on select denominations only. She is the titular head of state, but she is not the ruler of Canada. Try walking across the border without id or with a concealed weapon and you will find out whether Canada is a real country or not.

As an indepenent nation since 1867 Canada is indeed a real country, and the fact we have chosen to honor our historical connection with England by remaining a part of the commonwealth and honoring the current English monarch by having her on our coins, makes us less of a Nation??? Honestly pal, questions like these only goes to show your true ignorance and surprisingly enough your lack of respect. There's the main difference between the US and Canada, because you fought for your independence and we only had to ask for ours, makes us different and less of a nation?? We also recognize our other founding nation by making Canada officially bilingual, it's called tolerance and respect.

There are other countries that have the Queen on their money. Australia and Bermuda come to mind. The queen is only on certain denominations -- not all money.

And just to clear up any confusion caused by the person who "has a Canadian friend" and therefore thinks she know one iota about about the True North: Canada has it's own money! It is the Canadian Dollar.

Funny question. I've always sort of thought of Canada as a non-country. They are part of North America but not American, their queen does not live there but is on their money. In west Canada they act British in eastern Canada they speak French. I mean which is it? I know the history and lots of people migrated there but it's just an odd place. They are always neutral in war situations or have minimal involvement. My husband is from England and the first time we visited Victoria he said "these people are wannabe English!" I understand Australia is also part of the commonwealth as well as some other countries but Australia has such a unique way of life which sets them apart. They are wonderful and I do consider them a real country. I think Canada is screwed because they are so far from the UK but yet connected to the US which puts them in an odd position.
