For decades, school districts have organized around a simple idea: Whatever you give to white students, give it to black students, too.
Put both groups of students in the same schools. Expose them to the same teaching. If they struggle, give them the same help.
In the Tampa Bay area and across the nation, this was how educators atoned for the long-ago sin of relegating black children to inferior schools.
Now, in a class-action lawsuit that has Pinellas County's top educators on the defensive, the plaintiffs say the policy of equal access has failed the school district's 20,000 black students.
Black kids, they contend, will need uniquely tailored programs if the district ever hopes to erase an education gap that has them lagging behind every other ethnic group in school performance.
Make up your mind, do you want to intergrate or not!

I'm a big one for equal rights for all, but I gotta agree with you. Special classes for black students is a step backward toword special water fountains(segregation). What difference would they possibly teach? And doesn't that reinforce the concept that we're different?
How bout we start being humans and see what we have in common that way; it's a lot more than they think.
I used to live in St. Pete and there is a black organization called the Unguru Nation that starts up most of the trouble in the area. They were responsible for both race riots. I think creating special schools for black students is a bit silly. But there is a huge issue of economic inequality in the St. Pete area. For example, I lived in a neighborhood of historic homes within three blocks of the Bay. Homes generally sold for upwards of 500K to a million. I could walk from my home, cross 4th Street, (two blocks away) and see abandoned crack houses. Just two blocks! I'm not saying that certain groups were responsible for the inequality - I'm saying you could visually understand that it was there. These neighborhoods - you wouldn't let a dog live there - let alone a child. So perhaps this area needs special schools to deal with the children living in what could only be described as a war zone. P.S. When a black related piece of legislation was being introduced, the US Coast Guard would patrol my neighborhood. You would see tanks and armed soldiers on the streets. No kidding.
All races are welcome at traditionally black faculties for one. And, those faculties have been started by ability of white those with the point to segregate blacks. There are additionally scholarship classes for the different ethnicity under the sunlight besides. Are those ever seen racist? There are additionally white scholarships. Google it. They do exist. purely by using fact there is something that pronounces its meant for blacks or the different specific ethnicity, does not at once mean racism is in contact. Its no longer basically like the full premise is "we could do a black scholarship by using fact we hate all white people". Nor are they taking a supremacist stance on the region. So, no... its no longer racist. a minimum of no longer by ability of the dictionaries definition of racism.
It's nicely tailored bunch of BS isn't it? Rather sad that some children are going to be regulated to special education classes because of race. Hmmm that didn't come out quite the way I meant it but it does sort of have some resemblance...
And now some "scientist" are say boy and girls learn differently as well so schools are separating by sex as well.
So they want "special" schools....who's being racist now?
Maybe they should look into Personal Responsibility. The problem is most likely at home where parents don't care enough.
until you change the black culture that looks at educuation and smart people with disdain and blacks that want to learn as "uncle toms", you won't change a damn thing, no matter how many special programs, schools, or money you throw at the problem.
Funny how no one ever seems to bring this up as a solution to the problem.
So, basically, blacks are now admiting that seperate but equal was better. Guess we can chalk this up to another failed liberal policy.
Yes you are right.
