I plan on getting my boyfriend a micro pig for Christmas. I'm not sure if I'm going to get a baby or an adult but I am getting one. I need to know what supplies I should get for one? What should I get if I get a baby?
Update:that you were willing to sit here and tell me nothing that has to do with my question was your time wasted. Like I said we're all entitled to our own opinions but theres some that people could care less about. now back to my question. got any answers or still pointless inputs?

i agree with clock work 100%. stop being so ignorant. at this local feed store of mine that i go to get rabbit food (cheapest place to get oxbow) they had a baby pig in like a cage for one of the rabbits so it was SMALL, a bit smaller than my 7lb yorkie. cute right? i thought so. i came back a couple months later for some chicken feed (i live in a suburban neighborhood but it is a hen) anyway it was soo big for just a month or 2 after it had been smaller than the size of my 7lbs yorkie. my dad asked how big it would get when full grown she said around 50lbs "if fed right", by this time 2 of the pigs were living in a huge kiddie pool with wood shavings on the bottom. i felt so bad for the pigs, there was wood shaving all over their snouts, piles of poo with flies flying about. and one of the pigs kept on nudging the other pig as if it's snout was itchy - or could be normal pig behavior but i dont know.
i went back just this past friday and they are huge. way bigger than 50lbs for sure. around the size of a.. hmm.. a medium sized plastic dog carrier. i don't even know or want to know what they will look like in a few more months, the sad part? no one has bought them yet.
EDIT: do you what you want. the pig will be very near or over 100lbs. if thats what you call "micro" or mini go ahead, please keep in mind you are practically starving it. if that's your idea of having a healthy happy pet go ahead. im just glad im not in your shoes. hedgehogs do not need "attention 24/7" you do know that hedgehogs are nocturnal right...? apparently not. they do have specific needs. ever heard of a rabbit? yeah i have 2. i dont think you need to worry about, fresh veggies and pellets in the right amount daily not to mention the fact that they need hay 24/7. need at least 4 hours of exercise out of their cage, require a huge living space. and you should change their litter box every few days? not to mention the brushing that is required during shedding season, and a responsible pet owner would fix their rabbits like i have done and will do with my female when she is ready.
sorry, but i think i beat you there again.
Micro Pig Supplies
I have no idea where these people got their facts but there is such a thing as mini, micro etc...
I am an owner of a Vietnamese MINI potbelly. She's full grown at 13 inches high and 43 pounds. She's the size of a beagle. She will live between the ages of 14-19 years.
She IS litter box trained when left inside unattended but rings a bell on the back door to be let out. She doesn't poop a pound a day nor does she eat it or roll in it like a lot of dogs do. Not to mention, my pointer mix dog eats everything, poop included.
Pigs are smarter than dogs and are very easily trained. I trained mine to do most of her tricks in less than 6 hours. Where as my dog it took a constant several days.
Depending on what breed you are getting or have, for instance my pig only eats a cup of food a day. That's way less than a dog her size. They also need to eat some fruit and veggies throughout the day. Mine loves grapes! So this "pigs need a lot of food" is wrong. In fact, its very nhealthy for a pig to over eat. They have weak spines and gain weight very very fast. And the weight.can curve their spines and cause pain. So limiting their intake is critical for optimal health.
Pigs are also very affectionate and love to cuddle. They can be very friendly if they aren't isolated. My pig loves.our cat and our dog. She will chase after them and they.chase her. They don't need a huge pen or a.big place. A small backyard would do just fine.
As for supplies, you will need a special pig food that the.store.you.get them from will most likely sell. Also, you'll need of course a water and food bowl, a bed. And toys. Pigs want to play or.keep themselves entertained when they don't have anyone around. The.best toys to get are baby toys. They aren't easy breakable and the pig wont swallow them. I prefer the big plastic keys and rings. Also, for bathing use a tear free and gentle. Basically baby shampoo. Pigs also are prone to.getting dry skin so use baby oil and rub it on them every other day to keep their skin moisturized. That's about it really...
Oh and another thing .. get a female pig. Males that are not neutered do not make good pets. I forget the reason behind this but I just remember no unneutered males. Females also relatively stay smaller than males.
Hope.this helps.
No such thing as a mini, micro or tea cup pig
All it is a runnty ill bred pig that won't live long, if it dies live you will have a 200+ pound aggressive adult
You can't have them in city limits
You can't litter box train them
You have ot keep them outside in a very large pen
They are not clean animals, they produce up to a pound of vile smelling feces
They can carry pusudo rabbis, there is no cure or prevention for it
save your money and don't bother with a a scam like that
