Ok I mean I know pretty much know the basics (Direct action, unconventional warfare etc.) but do SEALS do pretty much only missions where there's water? I know thats not the case now in Afghanistan but once the war is over what are the SEALS going to do?
Update:Ok im asking how they insert into a mission, how do they leave, what do they do most of, etc.
I know that they are trained to be able to do it all but do they mostly do water missions and leave the land missions to other special ops?

They will do what they've always done: train for unconventional operations. Which still goes on: like any other military unit they train for all of their mission statement. Each Team specializes in a geographical location, not unlike Special Forces Groups.
However, the SEALS do specialize in underwater demolition, beach reconnaissance, and insertion from surface and sub-surface platforms.
Minnesota_Cold, they are not the Navy Marines, the Marines are part of the Navy and are the Navy's Marines. They are a Naval Special Operations Group. (P.S. GO MINNESOTA -4ish Degrees right now by Minneapolis) They will do what any Military unit will do when they aren't fighting, they will be training to fight.
EDIT-Well SEAL stands for Sea Air Land, they can enter or exit from any of those.
They do the same thing that all service people do! Continue to keep our country safe!
Minnesota_cold: The Marines are the Navy's version of the Marines! Or didn't you know that the Marines are part of the Navy?
When this war is over they train for the next one.
I guess the best ones get jobs working at Marine World in Orlando. Others are found in other tourists attractions around the world. I prefer watching the killer whales.
The SEALS are the Navy's equivalent to the Marines. They do anything and go anywhere when told to do so, be it sea, land, or air.
They bark alot and count with their flippers. And you should see the real ones at the zoo, they're even smarter.

i think they go on search and rescue, and search and destroy missions
