John 5:24: I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.
Romans 10:9-13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Update:Surely such a momentous and fundamental doctrine (atonement) would have been describeb by Jesus himself but why is it Paul who first mentions it...

The 2 statements are fundamentally different in this respect:
John's statement on Jesus' exhortation to believe "him who sent me" is clear on "to believe in god" and it carries no other meaning, whereas the statement in Romans 10:9-13 is on "believing in Jesus as god".
For Christians who insist on otherwise and insist that they are exactly the same in meaning are deluding themselves and refuse to admit to the difference in both statements.
The doctrine of atonement and redemption was expounded by Paul, and not be Jesus. Jesus' message is common in all the canonical gospels: to seek the kingdom of god. Paul twisted or cherry picked some verses to set up his own doctrine of original sins, everyone is born with sins, need of redeeming figure to die for sins, and pointed to Jesus as redeeming figure. He abolished the need for Law and expounded the "saved through grace" argument.
Peter the Apostle spoke of Paul...he said that "he writes many things which are difficult to understand". He did not say, don't listen to Paul.
There is also a passage about twisting the scriptures to our own destruction. I trust better than this for you. Paul urged his followers..and Christ Jesus' followers...to imitate them both. Why try to make a dichotomy where there is none, unless you have a hidden agenda? If you remove the writings of Paul...mostly letters to various groups of believers in Jesus, the Messiah...you lose most of the New Testament, and many vital insights into the workings of the Holy Spirit in building up the Body of Christ, the church. You may find yourself opposing not just Paul, but the LORD Jesus as well.
addit...the doctrine of atonement is introduced as early as the book of Genesis. Remember, the Lamb was "slain from the foundation of the world". So, even before man was created, the plan for our redemption was well established. Why the fiction that Paul invented it?
I tell you the truth, that out of the heart of man does he speak. Man will not confess what he does not believe. You have to believe that I am the Christ, the Anointed one, Immanuel, the Messsiah, God's only beggoten Son, and that God the Father sent me. If you confess that I am and that God raised me from the dead you shalt (will without a doubt) be saved from eternal death, darkness, hell and have eternal life and will not be condemned and cross over from spiritual death to spiritual life. For when you are convienced that I am the only way and that no one cometh to the father but by me you will call upon my name and be saved. For every knee shall bow and call Jesus Lord and King of kings.
So, there is this guy, Paul. He became into as quickly as a stable-reputable Pharisee, roaming around and arresting Christians everywhere he can locate them. He studied under the optimum rabbi of his time. He became into as quickly as linked to the Roman authorities. He advice that Christians have been unsafe and heretical. to assert that Paul did a a hundred and eighty would not do justice to the exchange in his life. He went from a devoted persecutor of Christians to their important evangelist to the gentiles. He became into imprisoned, and died for his ideals. So, the two he suffered an excellent psychological breakdown and went fully insane, or what he defined unquestionably happened. Christians experience the latter. Making it up isn't a reasonable decision.
please think about this answer ....they both are jesus authorized paul to spread the gospel and to speak what says the lord if u notice in the scriptures he always gives god the glory and even goes to the point of saying these are not my words but the word of god ....1 tim 1:1 paul an apostle of Jesus by the commandment of God, and 1 tim 2:7 where unto i am ordained a preacher, and an apostle i speak the truth in christ and lie not.
Why do you leave out important things that Jesus also said like you must be born again. Paul is just teaching the listeners how to be born again.
Both are correct you are twisting the word. Just like the scribes and Pharisees did in Jesus' day.
Paul wrote the epistles under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, which is Jesus Christ our LORD.
We should not fall into the belief that these are Paul's words. They are not.
Jesus is speaking in both of these verse, not one more than the other.
And there is no contradiction or challenge here. It is simply the building up of an idea. The same thing is being said.
To me they say the same thing. I don't understand your question. But the religion of Christianity didn't exist during Christ's lifetime. The religion began after his resurrection, since his resurrection is the basis of the religion. So Christ and Paul to me are saying the same thing. So Christ was not teaching New Testament because the Old Testament was still in force. You didn't have to confess Christ while he lived.
It ends the same. If you hear the Lord Jesus thru His blessed lips or thru any of His agents throut all ages and believe Him who loved you till death you will have eternal life
Calling on the name of the lord is like confessing your belief in God because it means you believe God resurrected Jesus. To confess your belief in Jesus is to confess your belief in God Yahweh, not because they are one and the same but because God resurrected Jesus and you have faith that this is true.
