Actions speak louder than words?
McCain has said on the campaign trail, "I'd rather lose an election, then lose a war". He has also said if it took 100 years to achieve winning that war, he thought it was worth it.
Obama said nothing, but he left the campaign trail 2 weeks ago to see his grandmother for the last time. With her passing yesterday, missing seeing her grandson's possible historical win, by a day, Obama must have no regrets putting the campaign aside to spend those final moments with her.
He risked his shot at the presidency, leaving the trail so close to the election, than risk losing those final moments with the one he loved. What does that say about his character? He didn't talk the talk...he walked the walk...without grand standing.
Your thoughts?
Update:Kelly, The difference is McCain has said these words, and he votes against the vets repeatedly. He says he loves them and cares for them, but his voting record shows just the opposite. Obama didn't have to announce, "I am suspending my campaign to go visit my grandmother, and if it costs me the election, so be it" (like McCain said and did with the bailout)) Obama just went. He did what was right. He walked the walk he was accused of so many times of not doing. And he did it quietly and privately.
Update 3:FOA: "yes well you have a selective memory" - Ummm, #1, see above. #2, that was the grand standing I was referring too. Everyone knew it was a stunt when he went to Washington because there was NOTHING he could do there, but get in the way...which all agreed happened. He grand standed to put his electon first, not his country. ...Actions

Man, you brought tears to my eyes with these fine words!
I'm trying to see the parallel you're attempting to draw there, and I'm just not seeing it. How is it that you can compare McCain's words regarding the war with Obama visiting his dying Grandmother? That's not even apples and oranges, dear. That's apples and elephants.
Of course, Obama should have visited his grandmother, and should have absolutely no regrets. Frankly, I think his campaign would have been more at risk if he hadn't, given that so much scrutiny and criticism was lobbed at the fact that he didn't stop campaigning to visit his dying mother a few years ago. If he hadn't visited his grandmother, it would have been proof positive that he was a self-centered egomaniac.
McCain's desire to see this country victorious has nothing to do with Obama's grandmother.
yes well you have a selective memory
when McCain suspended his campaign to fly to Washington to attend to the National financial crisis started and perpetuated by the Democrats
(Clinton and Barney Frank)
he was criticized by the Obama people
THE Bush administration DID NOT start this mess.
they tried to fix it and the Dems screamed discrimination!
He did what he had to do, for both reasons, politically and private. By not going it would have been a loose, loose situation in both his private life as well as his political career.
Obama caes about Obama McCain cares about America.
two sides of the same coin
