Kennedy had a name which, in my opinion, he disgraced.

He also had lots and lots of money and influence to help him get out of that situation.

But the biggest disgrace is the fact that voters would reelect Kennedy.

I wouldn't vote for him to pick up my garbage.

And for the rest, is there any politician within the borders of the USA who has even one shred of morality, integrity or ethics?

If there is, I haven't heard of him/her.

Most affairs can be survived politically nowadays. Newt Gingrich, David Vitter, and as you say Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy, have all politically survived affairs on their record.

The main reason that Mark Sanford is having such trouble surviving his, and why so many have been calling for his resignation, is that he won't shut up. He keeps admitting to things, admitting to crossing the line multiple times.

If he had never said anything else beyond that he cheated with the Argentinian woman, he would have had enough support to keep going as Governor. In fact, most of the Republican Party down here was trying to get him to stay, and the Democrats weren't pushing him to leave that much. One or two Democrats here (I live in South Carolina), but not really that many.

But then Sanford kept talking, kept admitting his stupidity. Republicans just can't stick with him if he keeps it up, if only for their own political survival. If he shuts his mouth, he might still have a chance.

affairs are a symptom of other problems. money seems to make a difference as far as whether a career gets ruined or not.

I'm not too surprised about Ted making some strange decisions. His daddy made some strange decisions too. For some reason he figured his daughter would bring more shame upon the family than he would by lobotomizing her. Looks like that was the case as far as some circles are concerned.

The Sanfords and the Clintons would both rather have people focusing on affairs rather than on other subjects.

If he has chained women in his basement that's his thing so long as it is consensual and he's not engaged in out right illegal behavior, rape, sex with minors.

I elect a politician to do a certain job not to be the perfect dad or the perfect husband.

Another thing that sinks them especially conservative ones, is that they go around building entire carreers and images on being the perfect family man and when theya re discovered NOT to be it all comes crashing down. they are perceived as a fraud and as hypocrats.

Politicians that don't go around promoting themselves as angels don't have such a bad problem when they are found out to be simple humans after all.

Because when you're a Democrat, that kind of behavior is acceptable and expected. Why do you think they are usually the legislators approving of every kind of debauched behavior conceivable to the human mind. How can Dem's violate values when they have none ? God bless.

because he is a kennedy...that is why. and Clinton got away with everything....I mean, he is always in the limelight, still...did not really ruin his career. Liberals still revere him.

Because us boneheads in Massachusetts keep electing Kennedy's. They do something stupid and we just go, "Oh well, you know how those Kennedy's are." Those Kennedy's will screw anything that breathes.

I think republicans have it worse when they cheat because they are always hypocrites
