Here's an example of conservative "logic": Some liberals today call themselves "progressive." Some people who called themselves "progressive" a hundred years ago believed in eugenics. Therefore all liberals today must also be racist eugenicists.
Here's another: All that is needed for rich people to create more jobs is to let them have more money. Whether or not there is enough consumers to make such job creation profitable is irrelevant. Rich people will patiently eat those losses while they wait for consumer demand to grow.
It's little wonder so many conservatives try to cover all of their reasoning under the blanket claim of "common sense."

Update 3:Edit for Uncle Pennybags: I don't think background checks would hurt gun manufacturer profits, and it is illogical of you to assume I would just because I advocate for liberal positions. Assuming all liberals think alike is as illogical as assuming all conservatives think alike. But to answer your question, I believe the fight over background checks was just a proxy battlefield for conservatives to try to score a victory against liberals. There are no legitimate reasons to oppose better background checks except to engage in partisan grandstanding and scare Americans paranoid about government.
Update 5:Edit for Stupidity Has A Liberal Bias: I'm a guy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, with a focus on theory. I'm someone who has a lot of experience with rigorous exercises in logic. Can you prove geometric properties of nth-dimensional objects with your "common sense"?

Nice straw man. You forgot to claim that conservatives think the earth is flat because you once talked to someone who heard about a conservative who said the world is flat.
Mary, you didn't read the article that closely, did you? The article says that study examines how people classify themselves _in early adulthood_. The article isn't sourced (at least not directly, and I'm not going to spend an hour chasing links to answer a question on Y!A), but I will point out something that the article _doesn't_ talk about is how the political views of those people studied changed as they got older. Most people move to the center.
I'm at least logical enough to know that the article doesn't examine the issue thouroughly enough to draw a conclusion--although the original research (especially if it also examines those people as they get older) might.

How is this for logic.....YOU CANNOT TAKE A WEALTHY MAN'S MONEY.......A wealthy man did not get wealthy because he is dumb. When the government postures to take his money he can move it. Those who worked their whole lives for their money or upper middle class cannot move out of the way from the taxes so you do hurt them. Those who have all their wealth tied up in their business cannot move out of the way either and they usually lay off to try and balance the damage.
I base my ideas about progressives from the policies that are currently affecting society and economics.
My biggest concerns are economics, the constitution and individual rights. Rights are not things given to groups by the government. People do not have a right to what someone else has earned. These things are mandates imposed on citizens by laws. We must take great care of what we enact into law. You liberals are killing our freedom. With your rights come your responsibilities. You have the right to life, liberty and your pursuit of happiness. It is your responsibility to provide your own basic needs. Your fellow taxpayers do not have to pay for your happiness, house you, pay your utilities, feed you or pay your health care bills. You want the wealthy to be responsible but where is your responsibility?
Everyone thinks they're logical. I've heard conservative arguments that are very illogical. Same goes for liberals. Typically, people seek confirmation more than anything. It's mostly based off of ego more than reason.
