Well you know People do not appreciate being told what to do.

And I have to admit some policemen abuse their authority and practically provoke you so they'll get a chance to keep you in for at least a night and that's the part where people get P****d.

I do respect the cops but I once almost got arrested just cuz I'm black well tell me What the hell Is that supposed to be? Luckily for me I had witnesses and he backed off.

Another reason people don't respect the cops is probably that they are registred in some records and so they project their hatred on the whole sector of law enforcement in this case lets say too bad if you go around doing drugs when its forbiden

If you think that is all they do then you, like the people who hate them, have no clue what a police officer does or goes through on a daily basis.

I am a police cadet and work with the police a lot and i have asked the same question.

My granddad worked in the police force in the 1950's and he says that during victorian times and even before that the police used brutal methods to arrest people and to deal with criminals and i guess that's what people think the police are like today.

The policemen i have worked with are lovely and treat everyone they meet with respect. More people should treat them with respect because as you say they are enforcing the law and maintaining order..where would we be without them!

And as you say about the army..well they just look cool and everyone loves a guy in uniform ha..but i guess its just cooler to be in the army with all they do today for us!

not me. just i don't feel safe around them. most of the cops are crooked, abusing the authority. because no one check on them. so guess the one hiring anybody to become a cop. most of them are bad one. that have delusional thoughts, jealously, etc. making other police peoples look bad. it why i wish the police dept make sure they hired level head person make sure person is not abusing the authority. some are them think have that mentality think they can harass anybody they want and get away with most of them do. it why i feel in future peoples gonna fight back with them if they don't stop abusing the authority.the one that say oh police is good and ok that because they never bother them or harass been harass by them. but other yes like me i have been harassed, stalking, keeping tabs on me by them. all because of one petty retired officer said something bad about me they actually went ahead follow me stlak me etc. i couldn't believe my eyes. was so hurt. that made me realize it no good cops out there. it why peoples not gonna understand why til it happen to you. then you gonna say now i know why. i guess it depend on what kind of peoples they hiring to be become police. most of them are followers. they remind me of George Zimmerman. why i get scared around them still is. don't care if i get thumb down for this.

The silent majority support the police, these are the law abiding voters who realise the importance of having a police service.

The late George Orwell once wrote that " People sleep peacefully in their beds whilst policemen are prepared to do violence on their behalf"...or something similar to that. Enough said..........

Note I have a family member on the police force. I asked him the same thing. His reply was there are allot of police officer's that take advantage of there position, which makes it look bad for the ones that are trying to help. Give them respect they put their life on the line every day.
