I do concede that I'm not the most knowledgeable person about politics, but I see that most of the time the republicans favor the rich. If you look at Mccain's tax policy, he wants to cut several thousand dollars for the high elite rich, and so have other republican presidents in the past..is the vast majority of America rich and wealthy? when I look at how many republican states there are, it outweighs democratic states by a lot, and my question is, why do the majority of americans vote for Republicans if the majority of us are middle class, and they don't represent our interests very well. I'm not being sarcastic, but I sincerely want to understand this. I just want to know what is so appealing about them, because from the surface, they appear to be a bunch of greedy rich people.

Obama's pie-in-the-sky story followers will follow him. He is a Democrat. He will continue to blame Bush, big oil, big pharmaceutical, rich people, He will never ever take the blame for anything that goes wrong and he will never admit to doing anything wrong. He will play the race card and get out of jail free. The ones who will abandon him will be doing it too late, after the damage is done. The party of the poor, will become more powerful as more and more poor people are created who need government help. They will continue to be deluded into thinking the rich have too much money and tax the rich. He will continue to foster division along racial lines and along economic lines. The new disenfranchised will vote democrat because the republicans will continue to want to cut back government spending and take their little piece of the pie away. Of course, the only way to fix things is to cut back spending and lower taxes. Obama knows full well what he's doing. He knows raising taxes will slow the economy. He knows prices will go up to cover increases in corporate taxation. He knows The rich will cut back and make employees work harder for less. He knows stock holders will earn less on investments. He is also lying when he states no one under 250,000 will be taxed more. They will be. he intends to roll back the Bush tax decreases that have saved the economy from disaster. Rolling back Bush tax decreases is a monumental tax increase on the poor and middle classes
Fannie and Freddie were both created with the best of intentions. However, we both know where the road paved with good intentions leads to. Don't we? There, and, not surprisingly, right into Obama's presidential campaign chest.
Give me a good capitalist any day. I will guarantee you, If I loaned money for someone to buy a home, he would be able to afford the payments and I would make a profit.
As it was, we had socialist fascism running rampant in the mortgage industry. Barnie Frank and Pellosi in an insanely misguided attempt to "make housing available to everyone" gave kickbacks to mortgage companies to write loans to people who couldn't afford to buy a house without the "government help" Fascism is government being in cahoots with big business only to enrich big business. Then the bums in congress passed legislation to force Fannie and Freddie to buy the worthless mortgages from the mortgage companies who gave the loans in the first place. Socialism is taking from the rich corporations to help the poor. Obama, true to his nature is telling everyong it was "de-regulation" that caused the fiasco.
Obama's speeches are full of wonderful sounding, lofty, idealistic, misleading, pablum. He calls for "change' and he promises "hope" ... Well, Hope never put groceries on the table and Change can be very bad (consider cancer) He can't change the laws of economics. He is constantly promising to tax the rich. All Taxation slows the economy. He can't change the laws of physics. There is a concept known as "Inertia" - "A body in motion tends to remain in motion, a body at rest tends to remain at rest unless forces are applied" This holds true with any body, even a body of people or a government. If he wants change, he will have to use force. Who will Obama use force on? How much force will Obama use? When will Obama stop using force? Where will Obama force us to go? What will Obama force us to do?
There is a band of evil, bigoted, hate filled, Muslim, extremists, who are at war with all free, democratic peoples of the world. They were at war with us before 9/11. We have 2 choices. Fight them in the middle east, or wait for a disaster to happen on our own shores. Obama knows we are sending money to those people in the form of payment for oil. Every dollar we send there, will cost us double, in terms of them getting stronger and buying more ammunition to kill our soldiers. Yet, Obama keeps us from drilling oil in the USA. Fighting evil, is not evil. In fact, if we don't fight them, they will grow ever stronger. They will terrorize more and more people. Obama doesn't even admit they are at war with us. he pretends to think we are at war with them and neglects the truth of their evil.
Off the cuff, I would say whoever it is, that sets democrat policy is working for the father of all lies. That is the true leader and philosophy provider of the democrat party. He changes the meanings of words till evil is good and good is evil. want an example? The murdering of premature babies is called "the right to choose" It used to be, back in biblical days God killed the first born of unbelievers! Now, Women are doing it to their own first born! Want another example? Stealing from people under duress is called "paying your fair share of tax contributions" He promotes envy by using demagogues to call for more taxes on the rich. This slows the economy and causes more poverty.
They are against all we traditionally hold as moral behavior and for all we tradi
If everyone is so pro-republican, how come the last two presidential elections were (I think) the closest in history. Republican politicians do seem to favor the rich, but that's mostly because they favor big business (over just about everything else). Many people vote republican because of their conservative social leanings, because they think the republicans stand for the church, traditional families, a strong military, etc. As for the number of states, that's misleading because the republican states tend to be the less populated ones. Rural areas breed conservatism, though I've never been quite clear why.
Of course, all those reasons for voting republican is why I don't. I'm anti-church, support alternative families, and think the military can be strong without having to prove it all the time.
Remember, almost all politicians (at least on the national level) are much, much better off financially then the average citizen, and most of them, republican and democrat, are greedy rich people. So do as I do, and vote for the person whom you think will advance your own favorite causes the most (and has a chance of winning).
No, you're not being ignorant or condescending... here is the jist for you:
Yes, if you look at, for example, the Obama tax rebates, they benefit more people than McCain, and it's obvious upon inspection that they benefit the rich and corporations almost only. However, they get people to vote for them with the following tactics/decptions:
1. The most important thing that they do is convince people that they are the party of "morality" and appeal to people's prejudices and make them feel okay about it. Don't like gay people? Fine, vote Republican and we'll ban their marriages. Don't like minorities? Fine, we'll oppose affirmative action, toughen crime, and make sure they just all go to jail for you so you don't have to see them.
2. They pretend to be fiscal conservatives, they say that they'll save you money and cut your taxes. This despite the fact that they are the reason for us spending more than twice the amount on military (per GDP, not even in actual dollars, where it would be even more extreme) just above the horrible crazy dictatorship of North Korea, which spends half their GDP comparatively, and their people starve. So really, they are only conservative on helping other people, but spend tons of our money on killing machines..
3. Issues that are hardly consequential to most people, but can be embraced by anti-government conspiracists like "The 2nd Amendment and how that's the most important amendment ever" people who then start voting Republican despite their disagreement with every other policy because they think the Democrats are gonna take their guns and then the next thing they know, Democrats will be listening to every conversation they have and will become thoughtpolice.
So basically, that's just a summary of the basic misinformation that the Republican party has so sucessfully done to confuse America and work them into voting against their true self-interest. In my opinion anyway.
The rich control the major corporations. People like you and I work at these corporations. If the rich don't get their tax breaks, the company either folds or goes someplace else. Guess what? If the company leaves or folds, we lose our jobs as well. Think the Democrats represent us? Hell no, they only represent themselves. You think Ted Kennedy, Barack Obama, or Hillary Clinton are poor? Their only interest is telling us what we want to hear, so that they can keep their jobs. Like Charles Barkley once said not long ago, "I ain't that smart, but I don't think somebody is gonna give up a 20 million dollar a year job for an elected position that pays 200 thousand dollars. Even I ain't that stupid." As of note, many Americans look at Republicans because they seem more closely aligned with family values. While the Republicans stress family values, the Democrats stress that it is ok not to have family values as somebody will pay for your "alternate lifestyle" Many of us Americans are sick to death of paying for some irresponsible mom or dad, with 3 kids in 2 other states to go out and blow their government given money to purchase beer and cigarettes.
Speaking as a Republican that understands many other Republicans; allow me to say this: I believe that the economy is not always the number one issue with everyone. Many Republicans support McCain or other Republicans because of moral issues (such as abortion), their stance on the war, or social issues (for example, many Republicans favor a parents' right to home school their children). Don't get me wrong, the economy is definately a factor, especially now with the crisis; but not always the #1 issue when deciding what party to join and/or vote for.
And when it comes to the economy; many Republicans favor little government intervention in it and favor capitalism in general.
In my experience people who join the military are typically more conservative than the general public politically speaking. During the 1990s you wouldn't find many people in a typical army unit that liked Bill Clinton but it was not because of social issues but because of how he felt about the military and how they percieved his treatment of them. We got tiny raises and more than a few scares about not getting paid as budget deadlines loomed. When Bush came in, he pushed for one time targeted raises that were sizeable and then there were a few years of good raises that I hear have slowed down. There were a lot of religious people in during my time. They went to church every Sunday and so forth but not all were Christian (most were). Everyone knew who the lesbian/bi women were- it was no secret at all because they were always fighting- literally. Don't ask, don't tell is a fair common ground but I do know a couple people who falsely claimed to be gay just to get out of the service and avoid a less than desirable overseas tour. So yes the military is more conservative- whether that be republican or a conservative democrat but no one is forced to vote one way or the other just as no one is forced to practice a certain faith.
I am a moderate Republican. I was an Independant for years but switched to the GOP. And I am not wealth (working class income-- but a big step up from my impoverished background so I'm not complaining) and I am not Christian (pro-choice, pro-gay rights, Pagan). In my opinion, Republicans don't "favor the rich."
It saddens me that America is becoming a country that feels it is okay to punish success, and reward failure and mediocrity. I think the government should only help people who absolutely cannot help themselves-- and that the majority of people getting something from the government are not completely helpless. I think there is a sad sense of "entitlement" that keeps people from being ambitious and really pursuing success for themselves. I also believe that people should get to keep more of what they earn-- all people-- and do with it what they please. I don't believe "redistribution of wealth" is in fact fair at all.
I believe that we already over-tax major businesses (who, by the way, are not just rich fat cats, but about 60% of Americans with diversified investment portfolios), something like 2nd-highest in the world already. I believe that by keeping taxes lower we prevent businesses from downsizing, outsourcing and closing altogether. I believe that by lowering taxes for these big businesses, we create more jobs and higher salaries, so that more people can help themselves than be helped, and this feeds the economy.
I believe in small government and in handing more power over to the states. I don't believe the "Government as savior" model works; I think there have been enough models of socialism and communism in the world that prove it is a nice ideal, but doesn't work in practice. I believe in free market and free enterprise. I believe when the government gets too involved in things (education, financial aid, health insurance) it only gets mucked up and more expensive.
I believe in personal responsibility, of people having to live with their successes and their failures, in creating more opportunity for everyone, and in being charitable to those who really cannot help themselves... so I am Republican.
Republicans favor the rich only when they're republican. The rest of the time they are putting rich democrats down as elitists.
Case in point: Obama is critisized for being elitist by having a 28k dinner plate for Hollywood celebs, while McCain's wife shows up at the RNC in a 300k designer dress, and shortly after hosts a 50k plate dinner with rich business lobbyists and military wheelers and arms dealers.
The elite have floated the line that "freedom from gov't regulation and taxing is freedom for all". Really it just makes the rich get richer and harder for everyone else to compete against. But, some people are brainwashed by the reasoning.
Everybody so pro republican?
Have you been living under a rock?
Im a Rep voter, but i can tell you that we are far far from having even 3/5ths of the vote Rep.
Wake up man...
If he favors the rich than why are the rich giving all there money to Barry who supposedly states he will raise there taxes??
