Let us put it in a different way.The American government does indeed consider
Pakistan as its greatest ally in fighting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda which is why the US government is pumping billions of dollars into the Pak coffers in the fond hope that such largess will fetch results. That's optimism supreme for you when in effect
Pakistan is playing a double game and not really fighting the Taliban. The American people on the other hand, have no love lost for Pakistan and would like their government to concentrate on reducing the unemployment problems, improving health care, eradicating corruption etc.
So you see, what the US government considers and what the American people consider are two diametrically opposite things.
As a whole, no I don't think so. There is no doubt that a portion of Pakistan would ally themselves with the free world, but there is a large number of Radical terrorist supporters also.
What do they say? Pakistan is mostly a pain in the ***.
Trustworthy? largely, NO.
Are the billions in aid justified? No, but it is what it is. Without it, we'd probably be fully engaged with Pakistan in a military manner.
