I was really inspired today to do some work on photoshop. I've seen this before, but I'm not actually sure how to do it. How do you put photos side by side with, let's say, a black background? You know how they do timelapse photos? That's what I'm talking about. Except space between each photograph on a black background.
Any help would be much appreciated!

An easy way is to figure out the size of the two photos width wise and add that together and make a canvas that size. Then you can open 3 canvases. The first two canvases are the photos and the 3rd is a white canvas. On the 3rd canvas, press Alt + Backspace and it should change black. If it doesn't change colours, then press Ctrl + Backspace, and if it doesn't change to black or white, press D and then press Ctrl/Alt + Backspace.
Now, at the photos, press Ctrl + A to select the whole canvas and press Ctrl + V on the Black canvas. Then do the same for the other photo.
The photos will overlay eachother so at the top left, click the arrow and drag and drop the photos to where you want them. To change layers, to select the other photo, click on the layer you want to select at the bottom right.
you have to crop the photos down and put each photo in a seperate layer.
