I was just wondering if there was such thing as a weapons specialist in the Navy that deals with the maintenance of small arms and machine guns used by the forces?
Not master at arms. They do get a good deal of weapons training though.
Gunner's mate are the weapons specialist, they handle all the small arms. They're the kinda people that can dissassemble and assemble a rifle blindfolded.
After actually looking up the rates, it seems I made a mistake, as the other answerers pointed out. They are correct. I did several ranges in the Marines where MAs provided the training. I didn't know they did all the stuff they do. I do remember thinking at those ranges that these "Navy armorers" (as I thought they were, more or less) were overly competent.
if that was the only job you were being offered you need another recruiter. F U C K being a cook on a submarine! You're joining the military, you're giving 4 years of your life, you should get the job you want or at least something close to it. Don't settle when it comes a crappy job. Would you take the job in the civilian side? Hell NO Edit: If you did want that job i apologize for my ignorance
