I REALLY wanna learn how to do the flip throw in before school starts. I play select soccer and varsity HS. I can do a hand stand and a cart wheel. I'm not in to any other sports expect some yoga. I'm wondering what the next step is to be able to do the hand spring then learn with the ball. Any tips or advice? Oh and should I be even teaching my self with out a gymnastics coach?

I had some formal training in gymnastic when I was younger, and then started to play soccer for the little league for the YMCA and never went back to gymnastic again. As I played on for quite a number of years I have noticed that in some of the high school games, one or two of the players would do a flip throw-in and the ball would shoot through the air like a canon ball; It would also go a whole lot further than the regular throw-ins. After witnessing those spectacular flip throw-ins, I was convinced that I had to learn how, and I did.
Being flexible and already able to do various flips, it came pretty natural for me to learn the move. I never really had anyone showed me, but had a good idea how and learned how to do it my freshman year. I usually use the flip throw-ins when close to the other team's goal.
Anyways, I learned that the more momentum you have, the further the ball will go. And that starts with building your speed as fast as possible @ about 15-20 ft away from the touch line.
I would "tightly" grasp the ball just the way you would with a regular throw in (with thumbs tip almost touching) and with at least 4-6 steps (burst of speed) and then plant the ball approximately 5 ft from the touch line, leaving enough room to land, and fling the ball toward the direction that you want it to go.
The audience loved it, and my team mates loved it even more, as the ball usually end up almost 15-20 ft in front of the goal.
Btw, whatever you do make sure that your grasp on the ball is as tight as possible because if it isn't, then you may just loose your grip and tumble or worst yet, injure yourself. Don't mean to scare you either, but those are the possibilities.
Good luck and practice makes perfect. Check out these intriquing soccer moves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-ueXe2AkT0
i can't do that, i wish i could
but try with out a ball first, once you perfect that add in the ball.
when you get really good, do it in a game.
I don't know if it will actually increase your distance, so it might not even be helpful just cool looking
Sorry but the flip throw-in is now banned by FIFA
youtube and watch famous players moves. like cristiano ronaldo, kaka, messi, torres, or someother good player.
then try to do the same thing till you can do it.
(im not talkin about the amaizing plays that they do on the actual game like passing 5 players then score. just easy ones. go look for freestyle or skills on youtube and you will find it.)
I taught myself by Just doing handsprings, then do them while holding a ball. then try and get it to go straight (that was the hardest part). its not bad if you can already do cart wheels, you'll be able to get it over the summer.
